Pachira Money Tree Care

The Pachira Money Tree is one of the easiest and most favored plants to grow. It has both Feng Shui significance and helps purify the air in living spaces. But, after some time, the tree may turn yellow, look unattractive, and even shed leaves.

You’ll feel sad. You’ll also wonder why your plant is declining. Today, Xu Farm shares some tips on how to care for the Pachira Money Trees and keep it thriving green!

Pachira Money Tree Care

Temperature

The Money Tree can adapt to various weather conditions, including hot and cold. It survives between 4°C to 40°C. The best growth is at 18°C to 26°C.

Light

Similar to other indoor plants, the Money Tree can thrive under fluorescent lighting. But, for best health and growth, it’s good to expose the plant to direct sunlight. Do this for about 10 days at a time. Each time, let it soak in sunlight for 1-2 hours, preferably between 7-9 in the morning.

Watering

The Money Tree doesn’t demand extensive care. You only need to water it about 2 times a week for outdoor plants. Indoor ones need it less often, around once a week. When watering, water generously and evenly across the pot’s surface. Let excess water drain before putting it back on your desk or in the room.

Nutrition

Before the Money Tree flowers and bears fruit, you should fertilize it with NPK 20-20-15. Dilute it with water at 100g of fertilizer to 10 liters of water. Then, apply it at the base of the plant. Potted Money Trees need more nutrients. Fertilize them every 20 days. For mature trees with flowers and fruit, use potassium fertilizer. Use it at a ratio of 100g of potassium to 10 liters of water. Spread it evenly on the pot’s surface. Note that you should avoid watering the stem and leaves, as it can cause them to dry out.

Common Issues in Pachira Money Tree Care

The money tree is easy to grow. But, while caring for this plant, you may encounter some common issues, such as:

1. Yellowing Leaves

Yellowing Leaves

Typically, yellowing leaves can be attributed to two main factors. First, it can result from poor air circulation. This happens in a stagnant environment, causing too little oxygen. Secondly, overwatering can also lead to leaf discoloration and leaf drop.

Plants suffer from poor air circulation. Put them in well-ventilated areas to help them recover. Avoid keeping the plant in excessively dim locations.

For those with yellowing leaves from overwatering: stop watering. Put the plant in a well-ventilated spot. Wait until the soil in the pot has dried before watering again. Water less often. Allow some time for the plant to recover before returning it to its original position.

Also, leaving the plant without water for a long time can also cause yellowing. This often occurs when individuals are too busy with work and neglect plant care.

2. Drying and Wilting

Drying and Wilting

When the plant is drying, wilting, yellowing, or losing leaves, it’s crucial to help it recover. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can lead to water loss and plant death. Instead, place the plant in a cool, well-ventilated area with fresh air.

During this time, do not disturb the soil. This can harm the plant’s roots. Prune any yellowed or withered leaves and ensure proper watering. It’s best to dilute nutrients in water at a low concentration. Then, water the plant once a week to help it recover.

After a period of recovery and stable growth, consider changing the potting soil. Choose a well-draining mixture with peat moss. Fertilize the plant before moving it.

These are some care tips and common issues for Pachira Money Trees. We hope these insights from Xu Farm help you.
